Café Abiquiú. $$ Eclectic. This inviting, art-filled restaurant at the Abiquiu Inn (which is also the departure point for tours of the nearby O’Keeffe Home & Studio) serves tasty New Mexican, Italian, and American fare, including blue-corn tacos stuffed with grilled trout and red-chile rib-eye steaks. Be sure to peek inside the adjoining art gallery featuring local work, and take a stroll through the graceful gardens. Fodor’sChoice El Paragua Restaurant. $$ Mexican. With a dark, intimate atmosphere of wood and stone, this historic place started out as a lemonade-cum-taco stand in the late 1950s but is now known for some of the state’s most authentic New Mexican and regional Mexican cuisine. Steaks and fish are grilled over a mesquite-wood fire; other specialties include chorizo enchiladas, panfried breaded trout amandine, and menudo.
